Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 6, 2026
ParrotSense is a product of Fourth Density Ventures LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what the ParrotSense app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.
1. The short version
We built ParrotSense to be privacy-first. We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not sell your data, and the audio you analyze is not retained on our servers after your result is generated.
This website loads one font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. The site runs no analytics or ad code, and its on-page assistant answers from a fixed list and sends nothing.
2. Information we process
- Audio you choose to analyze. When you record or upload a sound, the app shortens it on your device to the part being analyzed, then sends it to our secure backend to generate your analysis. It is processed only for that purpose. It is not stored on our servers afterward and is not used to train AI models. The app asks for your permission before it sends any audio, and every health tool works if you say no.
- Bird details sent with the audio. These are sent with the audio and used to produce a more careful reading: your bird's name, an internal ID for its profile, species, sex and how you know it, life stage and whether it is weaned, home type and training level. If you entered them, the app also sends your bird's weight, whether it talks or mimics, who raised it, whether it lives alone or with other birds, time outdoors, other pets at home, what usually sets off calling, personality notes, what you have noticed lately (such as laying, nesting, courtship or molting), stress concerns, physical problems and medical notes. In a recording of several birds, this is sent for each bird you select. Your bird's photo is not sent.
- What you report about the moment. The situation you pick and the body language you describe (such as breathing, feathers, posture, eyes and crest) are sent with the audio.
- On-device content. Your bird profiles and photos, analysis history, and health and care records (weight and keel checks, diet settings, fresh mixes and seed-to-pellet plans, droppings, water and daily checks, care calendar, activity, checklists, medications, and egg, feather and weight-and-liver records), vet documents you add, and insurance claim lists are stored on your device, not on our servers. If iCloud Backup or a computer backup is on for your device, iOS can include this app's data in that backup. Otherwise they leave your device only when you choose to: creating a backup file, sharing a document or report, or exporting a claim sends that data wherever you send it.
- Anonymous app identity. The app uses anonymous authentication to secure requests to our backend. No name, email, or account login is required. The Support ID shown in the app is this anonymous identifier.
- App integrity checks. The app uses Apple's App Attest, through Firebase App Check, to send proof with each analysis request that it comes from a genuine copy of the app.
- Abuse and cost controls. To prevent abuse, our backend keeps daily counts of analysis requests linked to your anonymous identifier, a cached copy of your subscription status from RevenueCat, and a daily count keyed to a hashed form of your network (IP) address. The raw IP address is not stored in these counts.
- Technical logs. To keep the service reliable, our backend keeps technical logs of each request, such as a request ID, your anonymous identifier, whether it worked, and the urgency level of the result. We do not log your audio or your bird's profile.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat), which receives your anonymous identifier to match your subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Emails you send us. If you email [email protected], or [email protected] for the care program, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach (such as your Support ID or a vet document). We use it to answer or review your request.
3. Service providers
We share only what is necessary for the app to function, with providers acting on our behalf:
- Google (Gemini API): performs the AI analysis of the audio you submit. The audio and the details above are sent to Google to generate your analysis. Google does not use them to train its models. Google's terms allow it to log requests for a limited time, solely to detect and prevent violations of its use policy. We do not retain the audio afterwards.
- Google Firebase: backend hosting, anonymous app identity, app integrity checks (App Check), the counts described above, and request handling.
- RevenueCat and Apple: subscription management and payment processing. Apple also provides the App Attest integrity check.
These providers process data under their own terms and only for the purposes above. We do not sell personal data or share it with data brokers.
4. Tracking
ParrotSense does not track you. We do not use an advertising identifier and do not link your activity to third-party data for advertising. Because we do not track, the app does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
5. Data retention and your choices
Audio submitted for analysis is not retained on our servers after processing. Profiles, history, health records and documents live on your device. You can remove items in the app. The Delete All Data button in Settings clears your bird profiles, analysis history and settings, and it resets the anonymous identity, so your Support ID changes. It does not remove health records or vet documents, which stay until you uninstall the app. Removing a health or care record hides it in the app, but it stays in the app's storage on your device, and in any backup file you create afterward, until you uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes what the app stored on your device. A backup file you created is yours to keep or delete. You can turn off AI analysis at any time in Settings, and you can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings.
6. Children
ParrotSense is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
